Busy busy weeks ahead

How shocking is it that Ivan’s the one updating this blog?! Hahaha. When I’m bored in class I’ll come to our blog to surf, expecting nothing (in fact, I can’t explain why I’m coming here so often), but surprisingly Ivan updates the blog! Lol! So it’s always a pleasant mid-day surprise, to spice up an otherwise boring school day.

Well, I haven’t been updating much cos I’ve been so occupied with… STUDYING! Hahaha. In fact I think I’m doing pretty well this semester! I guess not getting to go US for exchange the next semester (cos my GPA isn’t high enough) really made me focus more on studying and getting my GPA up before I try to apply again next semester.

Anyway, I received 2 mid term results today and I’m really pleased! Also received a call for an internship interview from RBS. Though the internship isn’t in the finance area (I’ll be interviewing for an operations role), I guess when we’re at week 10, it’s time to be kanchiong and kiasu and just take whatever’s offered to you. After all, we’re only year 2s and in SMU there’s plenty of other opportunities. Even if you don’t do a summer internship, you can do a semester internship or a winter internship (1 month). So I guess there’ll always be opportunities to hunt down the ideal internship. For now, let’s just get the lack-of-internship-stress out of us and enjoy whatever’s presented to us!

And then there was one.

Yesterday my baby hamster died. It wasn’t a shocker, but it’s still saddening =\

Well, it’s already the middle of week 5, and the projects are starting to come in already. Need to study harder :(:(:( Also need to start applying for internships already. It’s scary seeing how competitive it is. GARRHH! NEED MOTIVATION!

Anyway, will try to do up the photos from my Batam trip! It was awesome! All thanks to Ivan (L)! He helped to plan and pay for the whole trip, BEST BOYFRIEND IN E WORLD! Hahahaha.

Can’t wait for Chinese New Year! ($.$)

The Yacht

I haven’t been blogging much. Which is sad. It just shows how lazy I am. Hahaha.

So anyway, a week ago, Ivan and I revisited Raffles Marina. I think it’s really nice to go back there, because when you see all the yachts, you’ll wish you owned one, and then there you have it, motivation to last you one more week. Hahahaha.

While we were there, there was a new resident yacht! It’s a yacht but designed like an apartment! I don’t think the owner plans to drive it out, cos it has like a bbq pit upstairs, chairs on the outside, lamps, curtains, etc.

Going overseas this weekend! Yay!

December

While spending some time photographing my hamsters, I noticed a really bald patch on the underside of the mommy hamster. Then I thought to myself, hey, the daddy hamster had tufts of fur missing before he passed away, so…. *sigh* I think it’s about time :(

Anyway, on the bright side, I’m so glad December’s finally here! The past semester was really tough, handling event after event after event, then lagging behind on school work so much that I drowned in my textbooks and visited school e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y for 2 weeks before exams. ARGHZ.

Well, Christmas is around the corner and I can’t help but feel jealous of the American culture (or rather, non-Asian culture) of Christmas shopping, tree decorating, taking family portraits for the traditional Christmas cards… My family never celebrated Christmas, we never had the practice of exchanging gifts during Christmas (I tried to start it once, but I ended up being the only one giving out presents ZZZZZ, NO FUN), and Christmas was just another regular day. No singing, no walking down Orchard Road to view the Christmas lights, etc. I think my parents probably felt that it was too much effort for one day. Hahaha.

I sure hope that when I finally have a family of my own, I’ll have enough motivation to cook up a party and start new traditions that my family never had. I so wanna dress my family in odd looking green and red clothes (topped off with scarves and beanies) for our family portrait and then mail it out to everyone. Hahahaha.
